Daniel Ropota – Piano

Daniel is a Romanian pianist based in London, UK. An alumnus of the Royal Northern College of Music (Master of Performance with Distinction), mentored by Kathryn Stott and Helen Krizos. He was awarded a scholarship award for his first undergraduate academic year (2015/2016) and was supported in his postgraduate studies by the ABRSM EU Postgraduate Scholarship.
 
His past years are marked by a total of twenty-four prizes from various piano competitions spanning countries such as Romania, Italy and Hungary and over fifty solo, orchestra and chamber music recitals. In 2013, he was awarded by the Education and Training Inspectorate from his hometown in recognition of his contribution to the reputation of the city of Iasi (Romania), through gaining exceptional results at national and international competitions.
 
He has held solo piano and chamber music recitals at festivals such as “The International George Enescu Festival”-Romania, “The Chetham's International Piano Summer School”-United Kingdom and “Crescendo Summer Institute Festival”-Hungary.
 
At the age of fifteen he made his debut as a soloist and has since played with a number of philharmonic orchestras from Romania, Moldavia and England, including Manchester Camerata in 2017 as part of the RNCM conducting masterclass.
 
Daniel has had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses given by pianists including Stephen Hough, Steven Osborne, Philippe Cassard, Alexandra Dariescu, and Josu Okinena.
 
In 2018 he made his London debut at St. Martin in the Fields, invited by the Romanian Cultural Institute. He concluded his undergraduate studies with a concert at The University of Manchester where he performed George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with Gorton Philharmonic Orchestra.

Daniel has also discovered recently a new passion that involves teaching piano to all age groups. This year, he finished the PGCE certificate to develop new sets of skills that will be suitable in his teaching journey. He enjoys sharing his love for music to others while creating a supportive and friendly environment.
