South African Benn started playing the piano at the age of 8 and graduated from the South Africa College of Music with a BMus in 2006. Whilst studying there he was awarded numerous scholarships and won several competitions, including winning awards for Beethoven and for concerto playing. He was even employed by the university to teach performance to undergraduate piano students.
Benn has performed extensively as a soloist throughout South Africa and in and around London. His interpretations of pieces such as Brahms' D-minor concerto and Beethoven's "Emperor" concerto have been critically acclaimed in the classical music press. Benn is at home with a wide range of music and enjoys teaching pop and jazz styles as well as classical. He likes sports, socialising and seeing movies and plays football every week.
