Tom is one of the most outstanding classical and jazz pianists we have ever met. He has been playing jazz piano professionally in hotels and restaurants since he was 13, and now holds residencies at several london venues plus gigs with his duo and projects with other musicians. Whilst studying for a degree in music at the University of Newcastle, Australia, Tom not only passed with distinction but won the conservatorium concerto competition and performed Shostokovich's 2nd piano concerto with the University of Newcastle Symphony Orchestra. Tom also works as a professional composer with commissions too numerous to list, including piano music for Australian state radio, documentary soundtracks, films and many performances of his own works. Tom has focused much of his musical energy into helping others, including writing music for a national anti-smoking campaign, a state meditation film for cancer patients, a safety abroad awareness film, and a 13 hour non-stop solo piano improvisation to raise money for a helicopter emergency service. He has been awarded the citizen of the year award in his home city and the Order of Australia Citation from the Governor of Australia for his contribution to the community through the arts Despite his incredible ability, Tom is equally happy teaching everyone from small children to advanced pros.
