Tom played his first gig at the age of 12 and has been playing with bands ever since. He has been teaching professionally since the age of 15. After finishing school Tom studied under Shaun Baxter at the prestigious Guitar Institute. At the time Shaun was developing the Rock School guitar syllabus and offered Tom to take the exam to be the first ever grade 8 rock guitarist, but Tom refused! On graduating from the Guitar Institute Tom then went to Spain to study flamenco guitar, where he developed an excellent ability and gave many flamenco performances in Spain. Since returning to the UK Tom has done session work for Radio 1 DJ Chris Coco and for Sacha Puttman of Bush. He has been teaching at Cherry Pie since 2004 and 2006 joined Chris in running the school. Tom is in Cherry Pie most days of the week and can often be found answering your phone calls and emails, sorting out booking and scheduling and generally ensuring everything runs smoothly.
