Due to the high demand we have for MUSIC TEACHERS, we interview everyone who meets our minimum requirements and then keep details of successful applicants on our database so that we can contact you as soon as something suitable comes up, whether at our school or elsewhere. If you are interested in working for us as a teacher, please read the minimum requirements below before sending your CV.
Minimum requirements for music teachers:
Have or be studying towards an
undergraduate level qualification in music
OR
Have or be studying towards a PGCE or other undergraduate teaching
qualification
OR
Already hold DipABRSM or equivalent in teaching.
AND
Grade 8 or equivalent standard on your first instrument. Most of our teachers are considerably higher.
AND
Competency in music theory, improvisation and sight reading appropriate to your instrument and style (you will be tested at approximately ABRSM grade 5 theory and improv, and grade 8 sight reading)
AND
Experience with children, preferably in a professional capacity
AND
A clean criminal record (we will carry out a CRB check if you do not already hold one)
You will also be tested on a wide range of personal qualities relating to teaching, interpersonal skills, professionalism, responsibility, child protection, organisation and so on. Further information will be forwarded to you before your interview and audition.
