Application Requirements

Music Teachers

• Have or be studying towards an undergraduate level qualification in music

• Grade 8 or above, or equivalent standard, on your first instrument.  Most of our teachers are considerably higher

• Competency in sight reading, improvisation and music theory appropriate to your instrument and style

• Good teaching manner and ability to put across information clearly and logically

• Organisation, responsibility and strong customer service

• Experience both in teaching and in working with children (private work is completely acceptable)

• Enthusiasm for teaching and a warm and encouraging personality

• A common-sense understanding of child protection (further training will be given)

• A clean criminal record (you will need to provide a CRB check or have one done through us)

• Two references, at least one who knows you in a professional capacity

All of the above skills and competencies will be examined at interview and audition lasting an hour and a half.

Activity and Youth Group Leaders

• Grade 3 or above, or equivalent standard, on your first instrument

• The ability to use music technology (training will be given)

• Enthusiasm and charisma, the ability to work under pressure, a person-centred approach to work and to use your own initiative

• Experience and considerable skill in working with children and/or young people

• A common-sense understanding of child protection (further training will be given)

• A clean criminal record (you will need to provide a CRB check or have one done through us)

• Two references, at least one who knows you in a professional capacity

All of the above skills and competencies will be examined at interview and audition lasting an hour and a quarter.
