Children's Holiday Activities
We run music holiday activities in conjunction with Merton Council throughout every school holiday and half term, with the exception of Christmas.

West End Stars
This 2 day specialised course is aimed at children with a love or interest in Musical Theatre.
Lead by our professional Musical Theatre vocal teachers, participants receive vocal training and learn specific songs on the first day which they then record on the second day in our own studio.
This course is ideal for all budding Musical Theatre stars and provides an excellent chance to receive top quality specialised tuition, along with experience in a recording studio. All participants leave the course with a CD of themselves included.
Merton's Got Talent
On this one-day course participants begin the day with vocal coaching and warm-up exercises with a professional vocal coach. They are then given a choice of songs from which they choose one that they would like to perform. Participants are then split into small groups to look at their individual performances and are given specific advice and tips.
In the afternoon final rehearsals take place and finally each performer takes to the stage and performs their song in front of the group, a judge, and family members/ friends.
What also makes this course special is that we are proud to be able to hold it in the "Colour House" theatre at Merton Abbey Mills, with large stage area, professional sound equipment and full audience seating capacity. This really is a great chance to experience a taste of performing on the stage to live audience. A must for future stars!
Guitar Workshops
Beginners:
This 3 hour course is aimed at giving participants some initial skills on the guitar. It is aimed at those who are either completely new to the guitar or have been playing for a short time. Some of the skills taught include how to hold/ position the guitar, the role of the left and right hands, playing single note melodies, simple rhythm, and some basic chords.
This course is ideal for anybody who wants to try the guitar for the first time, or for beginners who would benefit from some professional guidance.
Intermediate/ Advanced
This longer guitar course is aimed at people who already have basic knowledge of the guitar who are looking to take what they know to a higher level. It is aimed only for those who have been playing for at least 2 years.
Skills taught in this course include chord harmony and understanding of musical keys, knowledge of common scales in various positions on the guitar, lead guitar techniques, improvisation, and the learning of a specific piece of guitar music.
This course is a perfect chance to expand upon existing guitar skills and learn some invaluable insights into the next stage.
Drum Workshop
Our drum workshops are for ages 8 to 16, and provide participants with the chance to have expert drum kit tuition in a group environment.
The course covers all the basics of the drums, including the role of each drum, different playing patterns, and keeping correct tempo. Participants get the chance to play both individually and in a group, and learn to play along to a set song.
The drum workshop is a an excellent introduction to playing the drums for anybody with an interest, with or without prior experience. This 3 hour course is great fun and provides a solid foundation for learning the drums in the future.
