Elspeth – Piano and Singing (Classical)
Originally from Belfast, Elspeth attended Methodist College Belfast where she sang with the Girls’, Chapel, Madrigal and Senior choirs, winning the UTV choir of the year twice, Sainsbury’s choir of the year and several high profile Northern Irish and Irish festivals.
In 2002, Elspeth won a scholarship to the Ulster College of Music to study under the direction of Ashley Fulton. This also allowed her to perform as a soloist with the Queen’s Island Victoria Male Choir, who provided the scholarship. She also performed regularly as a soloist and member of a cross community Belfast based choir, Ceol-le-Ceile and the Ulster Youth Choir in concerts throughout Ireland.
In 2004, Elspeth was awarded a choral scholarship at King’s College London, which included vocal lessons at the Royal Academy of Music. While at King’s College, she achieved a diploma in singing (DipABRSM) and graduated from with first class honours in music. Elspeth majored in composition and continues to compose vocal music and music for beginning piano players.
In 2008, Elspeth completed a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) in classroom music teaching, working in secondary schools in South London.
For the last ten years, Elspeth has regularly performed as a singer at weddings, concerts and events in Belfast and London. She is currently working as a piano and singing teacher. Elspeth also works for Pegasus Opera Company, most recently working on the ‘Gifted and Talented Mini Opera’ workshops across a group of schools in the Lambeth area.
