Kirsty – Woodwind & Piano
Kirsty is primarily a flautist with a keen interest in contemporary music. As a successful soloist, she gained the title of “Maidstone and Mid-Kent Young Musician of the Year” in 2008 for performing Ian Clarke’s “Zoom Tube” in the competition final. Although primarily a flautist, she also teaches clarinet, saxophone and piano to a high standard. Kirsty began her music studies as an undergraduate student at the University of Manchester, were she learnt flute under contemporary composer and flautist, Gavin Osborn.
During her final year as an undergraduate, Kirsty was offered a place to study under Margaret Campbell (principal, Royal Opera House), as a masters student at Trinity College of Music. Kirsty is also a keen orchestral performer, having completed European tours with both the University of Manchester Symphony Orchestra and the Vacation Chamber Orchestra. Most recently, Kirsty completed a GTP placement teaching secondary school classroom music at Tonbridge Grammar School, and was awarded Qualified Teacher Status in July 2013.
