Chris Kirkham

Piano

Graduate Teacher

Chris is a London-based composer and pianist. He began playing the piano at age 9 and started composing his own music soon after; following an undergraduate degree at the University of Nottingham (during which he played harpsichord and viol in the university’s early music ensemble) he went on to complete an MMus in Composition at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

As a pianist, he has performed at venues across London including the Soho Theatre, and regularly accompanies vocalists for performances and examinations. As a composer, his work has been performed and recorded by ensembles including the Riot Ensemble, Britten Sinfonia, and others. At Trinity Laban, he won the John Halford prize for piano composition, and in 2024 he was one of six composers to work with the Britten Sinfonia as part of their Opus 1 artist development programme.
