Elspeth Brooke

Piano

Senior Teacher

Elspeth's instrumental teaching includes several years providing group clarinet and keyboard lessons through the Every Child a Musician scheme in Newham primary schools and teaching clarinet to adult beginners at Morley College. Elspeth has taught composition, music theory and musicianship at Junior Academy, Junior Trinity, Junior RNCM, Trinity Laban and RNCM, as well as privately. She welcomes all learners and strives to make her teaching practice accessible to all. For students who would like to explore composition and improvisation alongside studying for grade exams, Elspeth can offer a tailored programme of creative activities.

As a performer, Elspeth gained her GSMD Recital Certificate (post-Grade 8 certificate) in clarinet and piano and has primarily used these skills in 'learning and participation' projects for a variety of ensembles, festivals and concert venues. Her composition work includes commissions for the BBC Singers and the London Sinfonietta, and her chamber opera, The Commission, was performed at the Royal Opera House's Linbury Studio in 2014. Elspeth's compositions are primarily for acoustic instruments; she also uses Logic Pro to make electronic music, including sound installations. In 2025, Elspeth completed a PhD in music composition at the RNCM and Man.
